Ghana defender Abdul Mumin has rejected a reduced contract offer from Rayo Vallecano following his return from a long-term ACL injury, with several clubs now monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
A source close to the player told Footy-Africa that Rayo Vallecano had initially wanted to extend Muminβs contract earlier in the 2024/25 season and offered him an improved deal before his serious injury setback in March 2025.
However, the situation changed after the Ghana international suffered the ACL injury, which kept him sidelined for more than a year before returning to action in April 2026.
According to the source, the Spanish club later returned with a reduced proposal, which the defender rejected.
The source further revealed that the contract situation is one of the reasons Mumin has struggled for playing time since recovering from injury.
The 27-year-old has played just nine minutes since making his comeback from the setback.
Despite that, interest in the Ghanaian defender remains strong.
Osasuna and Girona are among clubs monitoring his situation, while sides in the Premier League and Ligue 1 are also keeping tabs on the centre-back.
Muminβs contract with Rayo Vallecano expires in June 2026 and he is currently valued at around β¬4 million.
