Ghana defender Abdul Rahman Baba has automatically extended his contract with Greek champions PAOK by one year after meeting the appearance clause in his existing deal, sources have exclusively told Footy-Africa.
The left-back joined PAOK on a permanent transfer from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, signing a three-year contract that included an automatic one-year extension if he reached a specified number of appearances.
Footy-Africa understands that Abdul Rahman Baba comfortably surpassed the required threshold after making more than 100 appearances for the Thessaloniki-based club over the past three seasons, triggering the extension clause.
The 31-year-old has established himself as one of PAOK’s most consistent performers since arriving in Greece, becoming a regular starter and playing a key role in the club’s domestic and European campaigns.
His performances have made him a fan favourite and one of the team’s most reliable defenders, with the automatic extension reflecting both his importance to the squad and his consistency since joining the club.
The extension means Abdul Rahman Baba will remain under contract with PAOK until the summer of 2027, ensuring continuity for both player and club ahead of the new season.
Abdul Rahman Baba is currently with the Ghana squad in the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars are preparing for their Group L campaign.
The experienced full-back is expected to play an important role as Ghana face Panama in their opening match before taking on England and Croatia in the remaining group fixtures.
The contract extension comes as another boost for Rahman, whose career has been revitalised since leaving Chelsea permanently to join PAOK, where he has rediscovered the form that has kept him among Ghana’s first-choice defenders.
