Adama Bojang’s agent, Cherno Samba, in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has revealed that the decision for his client to go on a season-long loan move to Belgian Pro League side Royal Sporting de Charleroi from French club Stade de Reims was based on both the player’s long-term development and his desire for consistent first-team football.

“We have extended his contract with Reims with a lucrative salary, which helps a lot. He is still a Reims player, which is a top club in selling players. I also want him to go and play regularly, and Charleroi is a club you have to look at their history with the likes of Osimhen coming in and going to the top.”

Samba explained that playing regularly at this stage of Bojang’s career was the priority.

“If Adama comes here, he will become the main man with game time, which means at his age now he needs regular football. His talent will flourish naturally. But if you don’t have the games and your talent is there, you become stagnant.”

The experienced agent also highlighted that the new contract with Reims provided financial security, allowing the player to focus purely on his sporting development.

“Financially, he is perfect. He renewed his contract with Reims, which now works with the sporting side of it too. So doing well in Belgium, one of the top leagues, is the reason for his move.”

Samba added that Charleroi’s long-standing interest and his own relationship with the club gave everyone confidence that it was the right destination.

“There was an offer we couldn’t turn down. So he goes out to play. He is very happy here. And he is ready. We all love the reason we made the decision. I have a long-term relationship with Charleroi and I know it will be the perfect place for him.”

The 22-year-old forward joins the Belgian outfit after recently signing a new long-term contract with Reims, extending his stay at the French club until 2031. The loan move is designed to provide him with regular first-team football as he continues his development.

Charleroi secured Bojang’s signature ahead of several interested clubs, including English Championship side West Ham United, who were also keen to bring the Gambian striker to England.

Last season, Bojang featured regularly for Reims, making 24 appearances across all competitions. He started seven matches, accumulated 795 minutes of playing time, scored four goals and registered one assist during his first full campaign with the French club’s senior side.

The move represents another important milestone in Bojang’s career as he looks to establish himself in the Belgian Pro League before returning to Reims with greater experience. For Charleroi, the arrival of one of Gambian football’s brightest young talents adds pace, power and goalscoring ability to their attack ahead of the new season.
