Kenyan international and defensive midfielder Amos Nondi has entered talks with Armenian top-flight outfit Ararat-Armenia to extend his stay at the club, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

Nondi is set to become a free agent on June 30 when his current deal with Ararat-Armenia expires. It should be recalled that the player nearly signed a new contract with the club in September last year, only for the talks to break down due to unspecified reasons. Now, nearly a year later, negotiations have resumed.

A source at Prostar, the agency representing Nondi, confirmed the discussions. However, despite the ongoing talks, the 26-year-old could still leave the club should an offer from a more reputable European league arrive.

“He (Nondi) nearly signed a new deal last summer, but it didn’t quite come off at the last minute. The discussions are back on with the club (Ararat-Armenia), who have tabled a two-year contract. The player is happy at the club but could still leave if a top European team comes knocking. It’s not about money for Amos (Nondi); his focus has always been on further growth. He wants to improve—he’s a very ambitious player,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Nondi has spent the past three seasons at Ararat-Armenia, establishing himself as a key figure in their midfield. He has featured in 77 matches across all competitions. In the recently concluded campaign, he made 28 appearances, including four in the Conference League qualifiers. Prior to that, he played for Georgian sides Dila Gori and Kolkheti Poti.

On the international stage, Nondi has earned 17 competitive caps for Kenya’s senior national team, the Harambee Stars, since making his debut in 2021. His Transfermarkt valuation stands at €225,000. He has also contributed a goal and an assist for the national team.
