Moroccan heavyweights AS FAR Rabat have reached an agreement with Tanzanian champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) for the transfer of Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
The deal is now at an advanced stage, with AS FAR having agreed the financial terms of the transfer with Yanga after edging out domestic rivals Wydad Casablanca in the race for the 26-year-old.
According to information gathered by Footy-Africa, the Moroccan giants are understood to have agreed to meet Yanga’s valuation of Okello, bringing the player closer to a return to North African football.
Personal terms between Okello and AS FAR are expected to be discussed today, with the negotiations regarded as the next major step before the transfer can be formally concluded.
Wydad Casablanca table $700k bid for Yanga star Allan Okello
Wydad Casablanca had previously made a $700,000 offer for Okello, but Young Africans declined the proposal, maintaining their $1 million valuation of the attacking midfielder.
AS FAR’s offer subsequently proved more attractive and has paved the way for the two clubs to reach an agreement.
Okello’s impending exit from Yanga also comes at a significant moment for the Tanzanian champions, who have already moved to fill the void by bringing back Burkinabe playmaker Stephane Aziz Ki.
Aziz Ki, who represented Yanga from 2022 to 2025, has returned to the club from Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli and is viewed as Okello’s direct replacement.
For Okello, the proposed move represents another opportunity to establish himself in North Africa after his previous experience in Algeria with Paradou AC failed to produce the desired breakthrough.
The transfer would also reunite him with Pedro Goncalves, the Portuguese coach who worked with Okello at Yanga between January and May this year.
