Anderlecht and Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru is actively seeking a move away from the Brussels-based club, with fellow Belgian side La Louvière emerging as a serious contender for his signature, sources have exclusively informed Footy Africa.

The 28-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at Anderlecht following a prolonged spell disrupted by injuries, which has limited his involvement with the senior side this season. As a result, Ashimeru has featured predominantly for Anderlecht’s U-23 team, making four appearances in the Pro League B, where he has scored once in just 181 minutes of action.

Footy-Africa understands that La Louvière have opened discussions with the midfielder’s camp and are pushing to complete a deal during the ongoing winter transfer window, as they look to bolster their midfield with top-flight experience.

Nordsjaelland intensify their interest for Majeed Ashimeru

Ashimeru’s situation has also attracted attention beyond Belgium, with Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjaelland monitoring his availability as they seek reinforcements in the middle of the park ahead of the second half of the season.

A technically gifted and energetic midfielder, Ashimeru joined Anderlecht from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 after successful loan spells in Austria and Belgium, but recurring fitness issues have prevented him from fully establishing himself at Lotto Park.

On the international stage, the former WAFA SC man last featured for Ghana’s Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and has earned 10 senior caps for the national team to date.

Majeed Ashimeru set for January move to Genk

With his future at Anderlecht increasingly uncertain, the January window could provide Ashimeru with a fresh opportunity to revive his club career and reassert his case for a return to the national setup.
