Barcelona have blocked a move for Ghanaian left-back David Oduro after rejecting a formal proposal from an Austrian top-flight club, a source close to the player has revealed to Footy-Africa.
The offer, which included a transfer fee and a future sell-on percentage, was submitted in recent days but was swiftly rejected as Barcelona remain convinced the 19-year-old has an important role to play in the club’s future.
The source declined to identify the Austrian club, explaining that discussions remain confidential between the parties involved.
According to the source, Barcelona’s decision was influenced by Oduro’s continued development, the club’s lack of depth at left-back and the admiration senior figures have for the defender. Sporting director Deco is understood to be a strong admirer of the Ghana international and believes he has the potential to progress further within the club.

Oduro joined Barcelona from Accra Lions in 2024, initially featuring for the club’s U19 side, where he made two appearances before earning promotion to Barça Atlètic. He has since made more than 30 appearances for the reserve team.
The source added that Oduro’s recent senior debut for Ghana has further strengthened Barcelona’s determination to keep him. His current market value is estimated at around €150,000, although some football databases value him between €400,000 and €600,000.
With the defender under contract until 2027, Barcelona are under no pressure to sell and are expected to resist further interest during the summer transfer window as they continue planning for the future.
