Nene, the senior Africa scout for AC Horsens and former coach of Cheetah FC, believes the club’s newest addition, John Batigi, is a great fit due to his versatility in attack.
Batigi was recently announced as a new signing by the Danish club, joining from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv.
The 18-year-old is regarded as one of Ghana’s rising stars, having already made his mark in Armenia and Bulgaria. During his time with Armenian side FC Van, the forward recorded 12 goal contributions.
“I was working at Cheetah when he was brought in. He spent about two or three years under my wing before moving to Europe,” Nene told Footy-Africa. “So, when Horsens found out that I was both his former coach and also their scout, it was easy for them to get the necessary information about the player and become convinced that he was the right profile to sign.”
“I think if we look at his versatility across the front line, he’s a player capable of playing on either flank as well as through the middle. That versatility is really key for us,” he added.
“We also pay attention to a player’s drive, his character, and what motivates him. I’ve personally known that he’s someone who is truly driven to succeed.”
Batigi, currently valued at €300,000 on Transfermarkt, is expected to immediately join the first team and make a significant impact
