Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban is set to join Hellas Verona after the Serie B club made a late move to secure his signature, Footy-Africa can confirm.
The 32-year-old is available as a free agent following his departure from Genoa at the end of last season and had attracted interest from several clubs, including Venezia, Sampdoria and other Italian sides.
Sources close to the deal indicate that Verona moved quickly after receiving information about Ekuban’s availability, submitting a late bid to beat the competition for his signature.
Ekuban has now reached an agreement with Verona on a contract that will run until 2028.
The Ghana international spent the last five seasons with Genoa, making 128 appearances and contributing 13 goals and 11 assists during his time at the club.
His experience in Serie A is expected to strengthen Verona’s attack as they target an immediate return to the Italian top flight.
Ekuban’s versatility has also made him an attractive option, with the forward capable of playing through the middle or in wider attacking positions.
