Daniel-Kofi Kyereh had only one concrete offer on the table before completing his free transfer to VfL Osnabrück, with the Ghanaian earning the move after impressing the club during a month-long period of monitoring, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
A source close to the player told Footy-Africa that Osnabrück were the only club to make a concrete proposal after closely assessing Kyereh’s physical condition and progress following his long injury lay-off.
The 30-year-old had been working on his fitness after returning to competitive football with SC Freiburg’s reserve side, and Osnabrück were encouraged by his progress.
The club monitored Kyereh for around a month and were particularly impressed with his physicality, fitness levels and overall recovery.
That assessment convinced Osnabrück to offer him a contract, with the German club becoming the only concrete option available to the Ghanaian at the time.
Kyereh has signed an initial one-year contract with Osnabrück, with an option for the deal to be renewed depending on his performances during the season.

The move reunites him with head coach Timo Schultz, under whom he enjoyed the most productive period of his career at FC St. Pauli.
Kyereh scored 21 goals and provided 20 assists in 62 German 2. Bundesliga appearances for St. Pauli, establishing himself as one of the division’s most effective attacking players.
His performances earned him a move to SC Freiburg, where he also featured in the Europa League before a cruciate ligament injury triggered a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
He eventually returned to competitive action with Freiburg II in the Regionalliga, making seven appearances as he worked towards regaining full fitness.
Osnabrück have now handed Kyereh an opportunity to revive his professional career, with his performances set to determine whether he remains at the club beyond the initial one-year agreement.
He will wear the number 7 shirt for the German club.
