Ghanaian international defender Alexander Djiku is edging closer to an exit from Turkish giants Fenerbahce FC in this summer transfer window, with the club setting a €5 million asking price for any potential suitors, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

Amid interest from French clubs including Nice, Toulouse, and Rennes, the club is determined to offload the 30-year-old, with manager Jose Mourinho eager to bring in younger players ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

A source close to Jenhisghan Djiku, the player’s brother and agent, has exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa that the club has informed them of its decision to sell—should interested teams meet the €5 million price tag plus add-ons.

“Alex (Djiku) is not in Fenerbahce’s plans, and they want to sell him during the window to raise funds for other signings. He has one year left on his contract and there are no plans for a renewal, so they don’t want to lose him for free next season. There’s strong interest from France, and the hope in Turkey is that one of the clubs can meet the €5 million valuation,” the source told Footy-Africa.

In the just-ended season, Djiku—whose Transfermarkt valuation stands at €6.5 million—made 38 appearances across the Turkish Super League, UEFA Europa League, and Turkish Cup. In the previous campaign, he played 36 matches across all competitions.

Djiku previously played in France with Strasbourg, where he spent four seasons and made 137 appearances, scoring four goals. He also featured for Caen and Bastia during a five-year spell across those two clubs.

Internationally, Djiku is one of the most experienced players in the Ghana national team, the Black Stars, having earned 33 caps since making his debut in 2020 against Sudan.
