Fenerbahçe S.K. got a €5 million offer from Russian side Spartak Moscow regarding a permanent transfer of the Ghanaian international centre-back Alexander Djiku, Samimi Haber reports.

The 30-year-old defender has been in demand this transfer window as Jose Mourinho looks to part ways with players he hadn’t considered in his squad planning for the new campaign.

Inspite of quite a few clubs interested in Djiku, including Nice, Toulouse, and Rennes, experienced defender’s next stop will likely be Russia. Spartak’s representatives were the first to submit official transfer offer.

In Moscow the Ghanaian centre-back should become a solution to Spartak’s problems on the defensive end under the guidance of Serbian manager Dejan Stanković. Last year the Red-and-Whites couldn’t secure a top-three place in Russian Premier League.

If the transfer goes through, Djiku will once again share the same jersey with former Süper Lig star Gedson Fernandes at Spartak Moscow. The Russian club continues to make deals with Turkish side to build a competitive squad.

Last season Djiku made 38 appearances across the Turkish Super League, UEFA Europa League, and Turkish Cup. In the previous campaign, he played 36 matches across all competitions.

Djiku previously played in France with Strasbourg, where he spent four seasons and made 137 appearances, scoring four goals. He also featured for Caen and Bastia during a five-year spell across the two clubs.

Internationally, Djiku is one of the most experienced players in the Ghana national team, having earned 33 caps since making his debut in 2020 against Sudan.
