Serbian top-flight outfit OFK Beograd have failed in their attempt to sign on-loan Kenyan midfielder Richard Odada on a permanent deal, as parent club Dundee United have turned down the request, an exclusive source has revealed to Footy-Africa.

The 24-year-old joined the Serbian side on a six-month loan from Dundee United during the January transfer window. Despite making only six appearances and not leaving a major impression, Beograd expressed interest in securing a permanent transfer, hoping to get the best out of him in the 2025/26 season.

However, a source at his agency, PassWay Group, confirmed that Dundee United rejected the approach. The Scottish side are keen to give Odada another opportunity to prove himself ahead of the upcoming campaign. His current contract still runs until the summer of 2026.

“Beograd were serious about a permanent transfer for Richard (Odada), but after several frustrating attempts, Dundee United stood firm. They believe he can prove himself next season, and they also didn’t consider Beograd’s offer attractive enough. The player himself wants to see out his contract at Dundee United and show his worth,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Before moving to OFK Beograd on loan, Odada made 13 appearances for Dundee United in the 2024/25 season. He joined the Scottish club from Danish side Aalborg BK, where he was on loan from MLS club Philadelphia Union.

In the past, the central midfielder—currently valued at €200,000 by Transfermarkt—has featured for Philadelphia Union II in MLS Next Pro, as well as Serbian sides Metalac, Crvena Zvezda, and Grafičar Beograd. He also played for Kenyan giants AFC Leopards.

At international level, Odada made his debut for the Harambee Stars (Kenya’s senior national team) in 2022 and has since earned 24 competitive caps.
