Versatile Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Danso is set to depart Stabæk Football Club in January after negotiations for a new contract faltered, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Norwegian side in March this year on a short-term deal, will see his current contract expire in December, and it is now confirmed that he will not be staying at the club beyond that.

Danso made a strong impression after joining Stabæk as a free agent from Stromsgodset, playing seven matches and completing 90 minutes in four of them. Despite his solid performances, the talks for an extended deal have failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion, and he will exit when his contract runs out.

A source from his agency, Aneke Player Management Group, exclusively told Footy-Africa:

“There were ongoing discussions for a new deal, but unfortunately, the talks have come to a halt. Emmanuel has made a significant impact in a short time, but the terms didn’t align. With his current contract expiring in December, he will now leave the club in January. We are already looking at other options for him.”

Before joining Stabæk, Danso had spent three seasons with Stromsgodset, featuring in over 28 senior appearances, and had a brief stint with French Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyon.

Although he has yet to make his senior debut for Ghana’s Black Stars, consistent performances at the club level may soon open doors to international recognition.
