The second semifinal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup takes centre stage at the Atlanta Stadium in Atlanta when 1966 champions England face defending champions Argentina for a place in the final against European champions Spain.

England are back in the last four of the World Cup for the first time since 2018, when they were eventually defeated by Croatia on that occasion. The Three Lions have enjoyed an impressive tournament so far, defeating Croatia and Panama on their way to finishing top of their group.
Thomas Tuchelβs side then defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Round of 32, before defeating Mexico at the Estadio Azteca in the Round of 16. A hard-earned 2-1 win over Norway in the quarter-finals sent them through to the semifinals, where they have now set up a meeting against the defending champions.

Argentina, on the other hand, have reached a second consecutive World Cup semifinal after also defeating Croatia on their way to winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. La Albiceleste have narrowly edged past opponents during the knockout rounds after breezing through the group stage.
They defeated Algeria, Austria and Jordan during the group stages and went on to record a 3-2 win over Cape Verde after extra-time. Argentina then defeated Egypt by the same scoreline, before defeating Switzerland after extra-time in their quarterfinal clash to reach the last four.
