Entebbe UPPC are edging closer to landing a major defensive boost, with versatile defender Eric Ssenjobe deep in negotiations over a potential move to the Uganda Premier League high-flyers, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Comfortable operating both at left-back and in the heart of defence, Ssenjobe would offer the Printers much-needed flexibility as they gear up for a demanding second half of the campaign. His ability to slot into multiple roles makes him an attractive option for a side that has built its early-season success on defensive organisation and tactical discipline.
Sources close to the deal have indicated to Footy-Africa that the move could reunite Ssenjobe with Abdallah Mubiru, the head coach who previously worked with him during their time at Police FC.
That existing relationship is believed to be a key factor driving the talks, with both parties confident the partnership can quickly translate into results on the pitch.
Mubiru’s imprint on the UPPC backline has already been clear this season. The Printers have conceded just nine goals across 15 matches in the first round, underlining the coach’s emphasis on structure, compactness and game management at the back.
Adding Ssenjobe to that setup would not only increase competition for places but also inject valuable top-flight experience into the squad, a crucial ingredient for a team with ambitions of sustaining their title push deep into the season.
As the Uganda Premier League heads into the second round, Entebbe UPPC sit second on the 15-team table with 30 points from 15 outings, firmly in the mix at the summit.
Should the deal be completed, Ssenjobe’s arrival could further sharpen a defence that has already proven to be one of the league’s toughest to break down.
