Slovak Super Liga side AS Trenčín is set to decide the future of Nigerian youngster Adam Yakubu this week, including the possibility of a transfer, a reliable source has exclusively told Footy-Africa.
Yakubu’s future at the Slovak club has recently attracted media attention amid speculation over whether he will remain at the club or be sold.
According to Sportsboom.com, the midfielder is on the radar of several European clubs, including English sides Watford and Leicester City, as well as KAA Gent and Shakhtar Donetsk.
However, a source close to the player has confirmed to Footy-Africa that AS Trenčín will evaluate the offers on the table and decide on Yakubu’s destination this week.
“Everything will be decided this week. The offers are genuine, but I don’t want to say he will join a particular club and then see him move elsewhere,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa. “He’s doing very well and will definitely leave in January.”
The 20-year-old joined AS Trenčín in 2024 from Plateau United in the Nigeria Premier Football League, and has quickly established himself as one of the club’s standout performers this season.
Yakubu has started 16 of Trenčín’s 18 league matches, delivering consistent performances in defensive midfield. His contributions have helped Ricardo Moniz’s side reach the Round of 16 of the Slovnaft Cup and record clean sheets in their last two league fixtures.

The Nigerian midfielder signed a two-year contract upon his arrival in Slovakia, with his deal running until the summer of 2026.
