Negotiations between Bosnian side FK Sarajevo and Romanian giants CS Universitatea Craiova over the loan of promising young forward Momodou Jatta have hit a stumbling block, sources close to the deal have exclusively confirmed to Footy-Africa.
Craiova submitted a formal loan offer for Jatta, which included a loan fee of approximately €150,000 and an option to buy for €700,000 at the end of the temporary spell.
However, FK Sarajevo promptly rejected the initial proposal, citing dissatisfaction with both the loan fee and the proposed transfer clause, Footy-Africa exclusively learned.
The Bosnian club has instead issued a counteroffer, reportedly demanding a significantly higher loan fee and a permanent transfer clause closer to €2,000,000 or more should Craiova choose to exercise the option. Additionally, Sarajevo is keen to include a 25% sell-on clause, securing a stake in any future transfer profits from the Gambian youngster’s potential career progression.
The substantial gap in valuation has stalled progress, with negotiations continuing but appearing increasingly complex. A source familiar with the discussions indicated that while both parties are still at the table, reaching a consensus could prove difficult unless one side shifts its position significantly.
Jatta, who has attracted attention for his athleticism, technical ability, and rapid development, remains a prized asset for FK Sarajevo. The club views him as a cornerstone for the future and is reluctant to let him go without securing a financially beneficial deal.
CS Universitatea Craiova, meanwhile, are keen to bolster their attacking options and see Jatta as a valuable long-term investment. However, the Romanian side may need to reconsider their financial structure if they are to secure his signature before the close of the transfer window.
With time running out and both clubs holding firm on their valuations, the future of Momodou Jatta hangs in the balance — for now.
