Ugandan international striker Sadat Anaku has become a free agent following the expiry of his contract with 13-time Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC, and Croatian second division outfit Slaven Belupo Koprivnica are keen on securing his services, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

Anaku, 24, left KCCA after just one season in his second stint with the club, having rejoined in September last year from Scottish Premier League side Dundee United. Despite attempts to extend his stay, renewal talks collapsed due to differences over sign-on fees and monthly wages.

A source close to Prosper Sports Agency, who represent the forward, disclosed to Footy-Africa that Slaven Belupo have already expressed interest in offering Anaku a three-year contract, though no formal agreement has yet been reached.

“Yes, Sadat is officially a free agent and there are ongoing discussions with Slaven Belupo in Croatia,” the source confirmed exclusively to Footy-Africa. “They have shown serious intent and are willing to table a three-year deal. For now, it’s the most concrete interest we’ve received, but of course, we will weigh all options before making a final decision.”

During his latest spell at KCCA, Anaku made 16 league appearances, netting six goals and providing three assists, a return that kept him on the radar of scouts in Europe. His earlier stint at Dundee United saw him feature 14 times in the Scottish Premiership, alongside 17 outings for the reserve side.

Having first risen through KCCA’s academy ranks, Anaku built his reputation with 57 senior appearances, bagging 18 goals and 11 assists before moving abroad. At international level, he has represented the Uganda Cranes four times competitively, scoring once, and was also part of the country’s U-17 and U-20 setups.
