Nigerian young prospect George Ilenikhena became a transfer target for four top European clubs after his successful first season with French side AS Monaco, Foot Mercato confirms.

Highly valued 18-year-old arrived in Monaco from Royal Antwerp for a transfer fee of €18.75 million. His first season in Ligue 1 ended with six goals and two assists in 31 matches (817 minutes played). Still young, the Lagos native has shown great potential.

Also having experienced some minor physical issues, such as a torn groin in the begining of the year, Ilenikhena remains under contract until June 2029 with AS Monaco, which is counting on him for the future.

However, the promising striker faces strong competition from Mika Biereth, Breel Embolo, and Folarin Balogun. Therefore that situation has prompted teams to take a closer look at him among which are VfB Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen, Villarreal CFΒ and ACF Fiorentina.

According to the report, four transfer options are there on the table, but AS Monaco is not particularly interested in them, as the club’s position remains to retain Ilenikhena to develop him.
