Sporting Supreme FC General Manager Ismail Hamza during an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa expressed pride and optimism following the successful transfer of promising left-back Victor Nzubechi Romanus to Swedish side IFK Norrköping.

Nzubechi completed his move from Sporting Supreme FC on Thursday, marking a significant step in the 19-year-old’s developing career.

The defender, who had been training with the Swedish club since February, has now signed his first professional contract, keeping him at the club until the summer.

Speaking on the deal, IFK Norrköping’s sporting director Henrik Jurelius highlighted both the club’s long-term interest in the player and their confidence in his potential:

“Victor has been in our business for some time and we are pleased to have found a solution that puts us in a good position in terms of numbers and gives us opportunities to evaluate a longer future together.”

Nzubechi himself—referred to as Romanus in parts—has quickly settled into life in Östergötland, expressing gratitude for the warm reception he has received:

“It’s a great opportunity for me to be here, and the team has shown me a lot of love. I feel at home here.”

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, Sporting Supreme FC General Manager Ismail Hamza, who also serves as the club’s head of recruitment, shared his satisfaction with the player’s progress and trajectory.

“Romanus Victor Nzubechi is a wonderful player and a hardworking one. He was with us for a quiet time and passed through several coaches, which helped him become a better player,” he told Footy-Africa.

“He was at Manchester United for three weeks on trial, and it was unfortunate that he didn’t sign there, but we are happy with where he is now in Sweden with Norrkoping. It is a good place for him and he can continue to improve and then move to a bigger league in the future because as a player you need to be more motivated and keep the hunger. I wish him all the best of luck and success in the future.”

Nzubechi’s move comes just over a week before the start of the Superettan season, giving him a valuable window to integrate with his new teammates and stake a claim for regular playing time.

For Sporting Supreme, the transfer represents another example of the club’s growing reputation as a development hub for young Nigerian talent, while for Nzubechi, it signals the beginning of what could be a defining chapter in European football.
