Turkish champions Galatasaray have stepped up efforts to sign Senegalese forward Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace.

The Cimbom are keen on adding depth and quality to their attack and have already missed out on signing Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal, with the Brazilian closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal instead.

Galatasaray won a fourth straight Super Lig title last season, but need to strengthen especially given how their rivals have added multiple players in the summer, while they also want to mount a stronger challenge in Europe.

Profile

Sarr joined Crystal Palace in 2024 after spells at Metz, Rennes, Watford and Olympique Marseille and has already developed into one of their best players in recent years. He was an influential part of their historic 2025 FA Cup triumph and also scored in their Community Shield win over Liverpool last season as well.

The 28-year-old also finished as the top scorer in the UEFA Conference League last season, helping Crystal Palace to a first ever European title. Sarr also won the competition’s Player of the Season award and was also named in the Team of the Season.

His versatility is one major part of his game, given his ability to play in multiple roles in attack, while his ability to get into goalscoring positions also makes him a big threat inside the opposition penalty box.

Potential transfer breakdown

According to Transfermark, Sarr has a market value of around €45 million and is ranked as the second most valuable Senegalese footballer in the world, and also the second most valuable player at Crystal Palace.

However, Galatasaray will need to match the Eagles’ valuation in the region of €60 million before Crystal Palace can soften their stance on a potential sale this summer.

The Premier League side are not willing to let go of one of their best players, although a fee in that region would change their stance, especially time to still get a replacement in the transfer window.

Sarr earns around €5.4 million annually per Capology and will be expected to receive a significant upgrade in pay if he completes a move to Galatasaray this summer, which could see the Turkish champions’ total investment exceed €85 million, depending on the length of contract.
