Genk have reached an agreement with Al-Qadsiah to sign Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie on a permanent transfer, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Footy-Africa reported earlier that negotiations between the Belgian club and Al-Qadsiah had reached an advanced stage, with personal terms already agreed between Genk and the 19-year-old. The deal has now been concluded, with Afriyie set to sign a five-year contract.
Genk’s decision to pursue a permanent transfer was influenced by Afriyie’s impressive loan spell at RAAL La Louvière last season. The Belgian club were particularly impressed when the Ghanaian scored against them, prompting them to step up their interest.
RAAL La Louvière wanted to keep Afriyie for another season, while clubs from England and Spain also showed interest, according to sources close to the player’s camp.

However, Afriyie was keen on a permanent move that would provide greater stability and a clear pathway in his development, with Genk now offering him that opportunity.
Al-Qadsiah signed the forward in January 2025 on a three-and-a-half-year contract running until June 2028. The Saudi club are expected to retain a sell-on clause as part of the agreement with Genk.
The agreement now paves the way for Afriyie to complete his move to Genk and begin the next stage of his career in Belgian football.
