Two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko FC are moments away from securing the services of Ghanaian left-back Joseph Amoah from Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC, The Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.

Amoah, a Legon Cities FC graduate, had one year left with the team, having signed his first-ever senior contract at the start of the 2022/23 contract. However, the club has let him depart, having reached an agreement with Asante Kotoko.

A source close to the player has exclusively told Footy-Africa that Asante Kotoko has also agreed personal terms with the player, who join on a three-year contract worth โ‚ฌ63,000 per season, and subsequently be unveiled later this week.

โ€œIt’s true there’s an agreement between Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities FC for (Amoah), as they strengthen for the forthcoming CAF Confederation Cup. This is a proper platform for the boy to show his ability and secure even bigger deals, especially given Asante Kotoko’s connections to Europe. He is going to sign a three-year contract, with a 10% sellout clause inserted by Legon Cities FC in case of a future move to Europe,โ€ the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

It should be recalled that Amoah joined Legon Cities FC in 2022, but only debuted for the senior team at the start of the 2023/24 season, as he made 27 appearances then. In the recently concluded campaign, the 21-year-old featured 24 times across all competitions.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, he has represented the Ghanaian national team at the youth level with Under-17s, playing five times, providing two assists in the process. He has yet to earn a competitive cap with the senior team, The Black Stars.
