Two-time CAF Champions League winners Asante Kotoko FC are moments away from securing the services of Ghanaian left-back Joseph Amoah from Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC, The Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.

Amoah, a Legon Cities FC graduate, had one year left with the team, having signed his first-ever senior contract at the start of the 2022/23 contract. However, the club has let him depart, having reached an agreement with Asante Kotoko.

A source close to the player has exclusively told Footy-Africa that Asante Kotoko has also agreed personal terms with the player, who join on a three-year contract worth €63,000 per season, and subsequently be unveiled later this week.

“It’s true there’s an agreement between Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities FC for (Amoah), as they strengthen for the forthcoming CAF Confederation Cup. This is a proper platform for the boy to show his ability and secure even bigger deals, especially given Asante Kotoko’s connections to Europe. He is going to sign a three-year contract, with a 10% sellout clause inserted by Legon Cities FC in case of a future move to Europe,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

It should be recalled that Amoah joined Legon Cities FC in 2022, but only debuted for the senior team at the start of the 2023/24 season, as he made 27 appearances then. In the recently concluded campaign, the 21-year-old featured 24 times across all competitions.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, he has represented the Ghanaian national team at the youth level with Under-17s, playing five times, providing two assists in the process. He has yet to earn a competitive cap with the senior team, The Black Stars.
