Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis has taken a major step towards reviving his career after sealing a move to Swedish side Brøndby IF, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The 28-year-old joined Brøndby during the first week of their training camp, where he was given the opportunity to train and prove his fitness after months without competitive football.

Former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi believes the move presents Dennis with a timely opportunity to reset and rebuild.

“I am happy he was able to pass the trials with the team and it will be a great opportunity for him to relaunch his career,” Onazi exclusively told Footy-Africa. “For me, it is always a good thing when a professional footballer is playing and enjoying his career. It is never good to see someone down so it is a good thing. Dennis is a good player and has a lot left in him and he has a lot to prove with the club.”

“I hope he will use the opportunity to show the world that he still has it in him and hopefully he gets back to the big leagues after his time with Brøndby,” the former Lazio midfielder added in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa.

Dennis wasted little time making an impression, with his performances convincing the club’s technical crew that he could add real value in attack. His showing during the trial period left little doubt, leading to his confirmation as a Brøndby player.

Dennis arrives in Sweden after spending the past 11 months without a club following his departure from Nottingham Forest last summer.

The versatile attacker has previously featured for Club Brugge, FC Köln and Watford, gaining experience across Belgium, Germany and England. He has also earned eight caps for Nigeria at senior level.

Although Brøndby is now his new base, Dennis will briefly return to England to finalise his work permit before linking up fully with his teammates. He is set to wear the number 17 jersey as he begins this new chapter.

For Dennis, Brøndby gives him a chance to reignite his form and maybe get another crack at the Super Eagles.
