Partizan Belgrade and Almeria have finally reached a compromise to complete Iddrisu Baba‘s move after agreeing to terminate the Ghanaian midfielder’s contract, paving the way for him to join the Serbian giants as a free agent, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Sources close to the negotiations told Footy-Africa that talks had stalled because Baba was determined to leave, while Partizan were unwilling to pay a transfer fee for a player with only one year remaining on his contract.
The breakthrough came after Almeria agreed to release the 30-year-old, allowing him to complete the move without a transfer fee. Baba is now expected to sign a three-year contract with Partizan.
The agreement means Partizan have finally received the green light to complete the transfer after hoping to announce the Ghana international earlier this week and register him for their UEFA Conference League qualifier against Tobol.
Baba is expected to undergo the final formalities before being unveiled by the Serbian club.
Partizan identified the former Mallorca midfielder as their preferred option after abandoning their pursuit of Slavia Prague’s Timothy Ouma, while Almeria were prepared to facilitate his departure as part of their ongoing squad rebuild.
The move brings an end to Baba’s spell in Spain after 60 appearances for Almeria, with both clubs ultimately finding common ground to avoid a prolonged transfer saga.
