The future of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is becoming clearer, with fresh reports from Italy suggesting that Napoli are edging closer to finalising a deal for his transfer. Former Super Eagles striker Dominic Iorfa has weighed in on the speculation, revealing exclusively for Footy-Africa he would be pleased to see Osimhen continue his career in Istanbul with Galatasaray.
While the agreement is yet to be signed, sources indicate that negotiations around payment structure and release clauses are progressing well as the new season approaches.
Osimhen’s name has dominated this summer’s transfer conversations, with several top clubs reportedly showing interest. Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and even Saudi side Al Hilal have all been linked at various points.
However, none of those rumours have turned into anything concrete, leaving fans wondering where the prolific forward will land.

Iorfa, who made history as the first Nigerian to play in the Turkish top flight with the same club, believes Osimhen would be in good hands there.
“There’s so much that goes into transfers these days, and Osimhen is clearly in the middle of it all,” Iorfa said. “People expected him to move to England or perhaps stay in Italy. I know Juventus wanted him, but Napoli weren’t keen on selling to a local rival.”
Despite believing that Osimhen’s talent belongs on the grandest stages of European football, Iorfa is confident that the striker can continue to thrive in Turkey.
“He’s already proved he can do it there. The fans love him, and he enjoys the atmosphere. That connection matters a lot,” he added.
Iorfa also dismissed the idea that playing in Turkey would be a step down for the 26-year old.
“Look at Ronaldo, Messi, and others. Many great players are performing in so-called lesser leagues and still representing their national teams. Osimhen staying in Turkey doesn’t diminish his quality or value.”
Osimhen enjoyed a spectacular season with Galatasaray, leading them to a league and cup double. He also finished as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig, netting 26 goals and providing 5 assists in 30 matches. If he stays, fans of the Istanbul giants can expect more fireworks from Nigeria’s number one forward.
