Transfer saga involving Super Eagles and KRC Genk forward Tolu Arokodare continues as the player publicly expressed his frustration and disappointment over being unable to leave the club this summer.
“I don’t know if this season is I’m leaving or next season. Anything can happen in football. It’s very frustrating, not knowing what’s happening. I try to stay calm, even though my head runs wild, but I have my friends and loved ones who keep me mentally stable,” he said in an interview with Voetbal Krant.
The new campaign in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League has already begun and the 24-year-old Nigerian not only is unhappy with his stay at the Cegeka Arena but also with the level Genk’s football under Thorsten Fink.
Previously German manager announced that the South Korean striker Hyeon-gyu Oh would be his first option while Arokodare is to move on to a bigger club.
“I can’t say anything about it, I don’t know anything about it myself. You hear rumours, I hear rumours, but have you heard something concrete? Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, me too, but in the end, it doesn’t matter much. I just want to be able to play good football and be appreciated”, Arokodare added.
Arokodare has been on the radar of several European clubs. Footy-Africa previously reported that the Nigerian can thrive in Italy as Atalanta’s eyeing him as a valuable acquisition this transfer window.
The 6’6” striker had an impressive campaign with Genk last season, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, a run of form that sparked interest from clubs in England and Germany.
Despite all the rumors and Arokodare’s frustration, he already took part in all first three games of the new Belgian Jupiler Pro League season. Each time he came on the pitch from the bench, but managed to score a goal in a game against Standard Liège.
