Massively talented Ugandan international and attacking midfielder Rogers Mugisha is on the verge of joining 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC, following positive talks held earlier this week, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

The 22-year-old will be out of contract at the 2023/24 Uganda Cup winners Kitara FC on June 30, rendering him a free agent. KCCA have made their intentions clear, as they aim to move ahead of other potential suitors — including South Africa’s Durban City FC, who have also reportedly shown interest.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a highly placed source at his agency, All Conti Sports, revealed that KCCA have tabled a three-year contract for the fleet-footed attacker, with the player keen on a move. He is being lured by new head coach Brian Ssenyondo, who previously worked with him at both UPDF FC and Kitara.

“Rogers (Mugisha) could be a KCCA player as soon as next week, given that the talks have been positive. He wants to be a major part of the rebuild at the club, and Ssenyondo is willing to give him the trust. They want to wrap it up quickly, as they are aware other teams will come calling if it drags. It’s a really big move for both Rogers and KCCA if they can get it over the line,” the source told Footy-Africa.

In the recently concluded season at Kitara, Mugisha played 17 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists. His versatility, pace, and technical ability have stood out. He has previously featured for UPDF FC, Kenya’s Gor Mahia, and Danish side FC Horsens.

Internationally, the player has made three appearances for the Uganda senior national team, The Cranes, having debuted as a teenager in 2023. He has also progressed through several youth-level ranks, representing Uganda at U17, U20, and U23 levels.
