KCCA FC are facing an increasingly difficult battle to retain defender Gavin Kizito, with the versatile defender attracting strong interest from Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC ahead of the new season, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
Kizito’s current contract with the Kasasiro Boys is set to expire on June 30, leaving the club in a race against time to secure his future at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. However, sources have indicated to Footy-Africa that negotiations over a contract extension have not been straightforward, with several clubs monitoring the situation closely.
The 26-year-old has been a key figure for KCCA since joining the club, making 51 appearances across all competitions over the past two seasons. His ability to operate both at right-back and in central defence has made him one of the most reliable defenders in the league.
Vipers are understood to be among the clubs keen on acquiring his services as they continue to strengthen their squad following another successful domestic campaign. The Venoms view Kizito as a valuable addition thanks to his versatility, leadership qualities and top-flight experience.
Alhamudulillah for the 2025/26. It’s been a season full of ups and downs but always kept my head high and working harder 💪

Before his move to KCCA, Kizito featured for SC Villa, where he played a significant role in helping the Jogoos win the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title. His career has also included a stint abroad with Egyptian side Al Ittihad Alexandria Club, further adding to his experience.
Widely regarded as one of Uganda’s natural leaders, Kizito has enjoyed a distinguished journey through the national team ranks. He captained Uganda’s U-17, U-20 and U-23 national teams, showcasing leadership qualities from a young age.
One of the highlights of his international career came in 2021 when he captained the Uganda U20 side to the final of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Nouakchott, Mauritania, where they finished runners-up to Ghana.
Kizito has also represented the senior national team, the Uganda national football team, further underlining his pedigree and importance to Ugandan football.
With his contract nearing its end and interest from rivals intensifying, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether KCCA FC can hold on to one of their most experienced and influential defenders.
