Ghana Premier League outfit Hearts of Oak have dropped their interest for Ghanaian native and defensive midfielder Nana Kusi Asante, despite initially having a gentleman’s agreement, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Hearts of Oak and Kusi had reached an agreement in principle for a move this summer, but it has fallen through, after his team Vision FC’s exorbitant financial demands. His contract with the latter is on till the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

A source close to the 19-year-old has exclusively told Footy-Africa that Vision FC asked for €124,000, while Hearts of Oak was only offering €74,000. Hearts of Oak has thus walked out of the talks, and Kusi will subsequently stay at Vision FC and see out the remainder of his contract.

“The standing talks between Hearts of Oak and Vision FC for Kusi are completely closed and off. There was a huge difference in both teams’ valuation of the player, with Hearts of Oak offering €74,000, as compared to the €124,000 Vision demanded. Kusi was keen on the move, yet he now has to wait for another season, before securing his move,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

In the previous season at Vision FC, the 19-year-old highly rated midfielder made 28 appearances in the Ghana Premier League. It was his maiden campaign in the topflight, a challenge he passed with flying colours. He is widely regarded as one of the best budding talents in Ghana.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, the young midfielder, whose transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €75,000, has yet to play a single match for Ghana senior national team, The Black Stars.
