Kwasi Sibo’s representatives are taking a measured approach to ongoing contract discussions with Real Oviedo, opting to review the player’s options after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

The Ghana international, who joined Oviedo from Amorebieta last season, has continued to impress with his consistency and professionalism. His current deal runs until June 2026, but the club is eager to extend it by an additional year following his strong contribution to their promotion to La Liga.

According to information made available to Footy-Africa, Sibo’s camp believes it is in the player’s best interest to allow the season and the World Cup to unfold before committing to new terms.

Their view is that his growing reputation, especially after becoming a key player for Ghana’s national team, Black Stars, could attract further opportunities if he maintains his current form.

Sibo has featured six times this season, mostly as a substitute, and remains a valued member of Oviedo’s squad. While talks are ongoing, both parties are said to share a mutual respect and understanding regarding the timing of any final decision.

Sibo’s current Transfermarkt value is estimated at €1.5m.
