Leeds United vs Brentford match preview

Leeds United head into this clash aiming to secure their top-flight status at the end of the campaign, with just eight matches left to play in the league. The Whites are 15th on the league standings with 32 points and are only three points above the drop zone, meaning a defeat could see them drop into the bottom three position.

They recorded an impressive result at Crystal Palace in their last encounter, holding the FA Cup champions to a goalless draw despite playing the entire second half with 10 men.

Brentford, on the other hand, will be disappointed by the result of their last match, as bottom-side Wolves held them to a 2-2 draw on Monday night. The Bees had raced into a two-goal lead in the first half but conceded twice in the second half, which saw them fail to close the gap on sixth-placed Chelsea as they continue their European aspirations.

Keith Andrews’ side are three points behind the Blues and a win in this match could lift them above their London rivals on the standings.

Prediction

Brentford are the better side at the moment and have enough quality in attack to hurt Leeds United and secure a good result from this clash.

Leeds vs Brentford Head-to-Head record

(Last five matches)

  • 14.12.2025 – Brentford 1-1 Leeds United
  • 22.01.2023 – Leeds United 0-0 Brentford
  • 03.09.2022 – Brentford 5-2 Leeds United
  • 22.05.2022 – Brentford 1-2 Leeds United
  • 05.12.2021 – Leeds United 1-1 Brentford

This matchup has been evenly balanced in recent meetings with both sides claiming one win apiece, while three other matches have ended in stalemates.

Recent form: Leeds United

Leeds United have been inconsistent this season and are without a win in their last five matches, although they recorded a 3-0 win over Norwich City in the FA Cup earlier this season.

The Whites have also kept a single clean sheet during this run, the goalless draw against Crystal Palace in their last match, while they have lost their last two league matches at home.

Recent form: Brentford

Brentford have been better in recent matches and have only lost one of their last seven Premier League matches, a 2-0 home defeat to Brighton in February.

The Bees have recorded back-to-back draws and are also unbeaten in their last four away matches in the league.

Player to watch

Dango Ouattara (Brentford)

Dango Ouattara to Brentford: £42.5m fee + £21.1m wages – Transfer breakdown

The Burkina Faso forward provided an assist in Brentford’s 2-2 draw against Wolves in their last outing and will be a major threat in this encounter.

Dango Ouattara’s pace and dribbling will cause problem for the Leeds United defence and could create many goalscoring opportunities for his side.
