Premier League champions Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield in a Matchday 36 encounter, with both sides keen on getting a result to boost their European dreams.
Ayomide Oguntimehin provides the lowdown for the May 9 matchup.
Liverpool vs Chelsea match preview
Liverpool enter this clash on the back of a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in their last outing which ended their three-match winning run. The Reds have endured a difficult campaign, which has seen them struggle to defend their league title.
They are currently fourth in the standings with 58 points, level on points with fifth place Aston Villa, with only three games to go and need a win to keep their chances of a top five finish alive. The six-time European champions have won 17 games in the league this season, recording seven draws and have lost 11 times so far.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have been in a slump since March and have not won a Premier League game since they defeated Aston Villa two months ago. The Blues have already dismissed their second permanent manager of the season when they sacked Liam Rosenior last month.
But his successor, Calum McFarlane, also lost his first league match in charge, going down 3-1 at home to Nottingham Forest. The West London side can no longer finish in the top five this season and are now looking to at least finish in the Europa League spot after a difficult spell.
