South African international and attacking midfielder Neo Maema has agreed personal terms with East African and Tanzanian giants Simba SC, following his official departure from former CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Simba’s intention is to sign and unveil the experienced midfielder on a three-year employment contract that will run at least until the 2027/28 campaign.
A source close to the player’s representatives, JDR Consultating, has exclusively disclosed to Footy-Africa that the deal has been agreed with Simba, and that he will link up with the latter after his exploits with the national team at the ongoing African Nations Championship.
“Like initially discussed, the negotiations with Simba have been ongoing for quite some time, and we were only waiting for his official release by Mamelodi Sundowns. With Simba, there’s now an agreement in place and he will join with the rest of the team after CHAN where he is with the national team in Uganda,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.
In his most recent spell at Mamelodi Sundowns, Maema made 17 appearances across the Premier Soccer League, CAF Champions League, Club World Cup, MTN8 Tournament, and the Nedbank Cup. Over the past four seasons at the club, he has made 123 appearances, scoring 13 goals and assisting 15 times.
