“Man United letting Mainoo leave would be a big mistake,” – Yeboah

Manchester United risk making a huge error if they allow teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo to depart, former Ghana striker Anthony Yeboah has warned in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa.

Reports, including The Athletic, have indicated that Mainoo is open to leaving Old Trafford after learning that new head coach Ruben Amorim prefers other types of midfielders to anchor his system. That revelation has alerted several top European clubs, who see the 20-year-old as a long-term investment.

Yeboah believes United cannot afford to let another generational talent slip away.

“Mainoo is not just another academy player, he’s the heartbeat of a new generation at Old Trafford,” Yeboah said, as he exclusively spoke to Footy-Africa. “If Manchester United let him go, they will regret it. He has the vision, the calmness, and the fight to become one of the best midfielders in Europe.”

United’s midfield has long been criticized for lacking stability, but Mainoo’s emergence offered a glimmer of balance and control. Yeboah insists the club should build around him rather than move on.

“United must build their team around players like Mainoo,” he added. “He reminds me of when I first saw Iniesta still young, still raw, but with everything to dominate for a decade.”

With Amorim reshaping his squad and rivals circling, the pressure is on United to decide whether to back youth or risk another costly departure. Mainoo has yet to play a single minute this season, with Amorim playing Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the pitch.
