Manchester City have reinforced their commitment to one of their brightest emerging talents after midfielder Divine Mukasa signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2030.
The highly-rated 18-year-old, who qualifies to represent Uganda, England, and Lithuania at international level, has enjoyed a remarkable rise since arriving at the Etihad in 2023. His rapid development through the academy ranks has seen him progress from youth football to becoming a member of Pep Guardiolaโs senior squad.
Mukasa’s growth over the past three seasons has been significant. After helping City lift the FA Youth Cup during the 2023/24 campaign, he elevated his game even further the following season, producing an outstanding return of 16 goals and 15 assists in just 20 Under-18 Premier League matches.
His performances quickly caught the attention of the first-team coaching staff. The attacking midfielder was handed his first senior appearance during a pre-season encounter against Palermo in August 2025 before making his competitive debut a month later in City’s Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield Town.
Mukasa subsequently featured prominently in the competition, starting victories over Swansea City and Brentford, while also earning minutes in the Premier League and FA Cup. By the end of the campaign, he had accumulated six senior appearances for the reigning English champions.

To further accelerate his development, City sanctioned a loan move to Leicester City midway through the season. The youngster adapted impressively to Championship football, contributing two goals and three assists in 15 league outings while gaining valuable experience in a demanding environment.
Having committed his future to the club, Mukasa expressed his excitement about the next chapter of his career:
“I am really excited to see what the future has in store for me. I have learnt so much since the day I arrived at the Club from players and staff alike. The experiences I have gained have definitely bettered me as a player and a person.”
“With this said, I can only use the environment to continue to progress. My taste of first team football at City earlier last season has only furthered my ambition to compete at the highest level.”
Manchester City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, believes the midfielder possesses all the attributes needed to continue his upward trajectory.
“In Divine, I feel we have someone with huge potential. Itโs really good news that he has decided to extend his stay with us. Since he came to City in 2023, he has consistently improved and developed. He works hard, shows humility and is eager to learn. That is a great combination for any young footballer.”
“He has shown really positive development throughout his loan at Leicester, and we are excited to see him develop further over the coming seasons. I am really pleased for Divine โ he deserves this.”
“Working with the best coaches, the best players, you improve so much so it’s an environment that I look to stay in.”

Away from senior football, Mukasa has also established himself as a leader within City’s Elite Development Squad. He captained Ben Wilkinsonโs side in both Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League competitions and produced memorable moments, including a hat-trick in a commanding 6-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
An England youth international up to Under-19 level, Mukasa now faces an intriguing international future. While he has represented England in youth competitions, he remains eligible to play senior football for Uganda and Lithuania, leaving all three nations closely monitoring his progress.
With a new five-year contract secured and valuable first-team experience already under his belt, Mukasa appears poised to remain an important part of Manchester City’s long-term plans as he continues his transition from academy standout to senior professional.
