Premier League heavyweights Manchester United have completed the signing of long-term target Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Red Devils had been keen on the Cameroon midfielder since last summer although the gulf in valuation meant they missed out on him.
However, they have now agreed a total package worth up to £70 million to sign the 22-year-old, who becomes their fourth first-team arrival of the summer after Karl Darlow, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
Baleba joined Brighton back in 2023 from French club Lille and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club across all competitions.
The young midfielder will now be hoping to fill the void left by Brazilian veteran Casemiro, who left Manchester United at the end of last season after the expiration of his contract.

Transfer fee and contract details
Manchester United will pay a fee worth up to £70 million for Baleba, who has agreed to join on an initial five year deal with the option of an additional year.
The fee is made up of a £65 million fixed amount, with an additional £5 million in performance related add-ons.
Baleba will also wear the number 20 shirt at Manchester United, where he will now be aiming to continue his development and help their pursuit of silverware this season.

According to multiple sources, Baleba will earn around £90,000 per week at Manchester United and around £4.68 per year.
Manchester United’s total investment in his signature could exceed £90 million, making him one of their most valuable additions in recent history.

Baleba joined Brighton in 2023 and developed into one of the brightest young midfielders in the English Premier League, helping the Seagulls qualify for the UEFA Conference League last season.
He now embarks on a new challenge, where he will be hoping to become a key part of Michael Carrick’s team and lead the Red Devils’ revival.
