Abdoulie Manneh’s anticipated transfer to English Championship side Birmingham City FC has collapsed at the final stage, with sources close to the negotiations citing unresolved legal issues in the contract as the decisive factor.

According to insiders, the deal “turned around and fell through,” with no party willing to take responsibility for the contractual complications that emerged late in the process. As a result, what was expected to be a permanent move to England will no longer materialize.

The 21-year-old Gambian forward had been on the verge of joining Birmingham City after the club reached an agreement with Swedish Allsvenskan champions Mjällby AIF. With the clubs aligned and only personal terms left to be finalised, the transfer was widely considered a formality and free of major obstacles.

Abdoulie Manneh on the brink of Birmingham City switch

Manneh’s profile has risen sharply following a remarkable season with Mjällby, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s historic title-winning campaign. His contributions—seven goals and three assists—were crucial to Mjällby’s success and attracted strong interest from clubs across Europe, including Birmingham City.

However, the breakdown of the Birmingham move marks the third consecutive transfer setback for Manneh at the final hurdle. Since his breakthrough season at Mjällby, he has experienced a series of frustrating near-misses, beginning with a controversial transfer involving Olympiacos FC, followed by a recent failed move to Coventry City FC.

While the repeated collapses raise questions about the off-field handling of his career, Manneh’s talent and on-field performances remain undisputed. At just 21, he is still regarded as one of the most promising young attackers to emerge from Scandinavian football in recent years.

For now, Abdoulie Manneh remains with Mjällby AIF, where his immediate focus will likely return to maintaining form and consistency.
