Gambian midfielder Modou Jammeh is on the verge of completing a move to Slovenian champions NK Maribor, as his parent club, ESOHNA Football Academy, edges closer to finalizing a three-year deal with the European side, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Sources close to the negotiations have exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa that while both clubs have agreed in principle, discussions are ongoing regarding the structure of the contract.
Due to NK Maribor’s limited availability of foreign player slots, the 18-year-old is expected to be loaned out to ND Ilirija 1911 FC for one season to continue his development and gain European experience.
Jammeh, a promising young talent, spent the previous season on loan at Steve Biko FC in The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) League Division One, where he impressed with his composure and versatility in midfield. His performances caught the attention of several scouts, eventually leading to interest from Maribor.
A move to Slovenia would mark a significant step in Jammeh’s career, offering him the opportunity to develop within a European football structure while showcasing his talent on a bigger stage. If the deal is finalized, he will join a growing list of Gambian players making their mark abroad.
