Former Nigerian international and legend Joseph Yobo exclusively for Footy-Africa has advised that his compatriot and experienced midfielder Wilfred Ndidi should stay in the English Premier League rather than join one of Juventus or Real Betis, as reported.

This comes after reports linked the versatile star to Real Betis in the Spanish La Liga and Juventus in the Italian Serie A. In England, 28-year-old has been a subject of interest from Manchester United, Everton and Crystal Palace, but with none yet to make an official bid to Leicester City.

His contract at Leicester does not run down, at least until June 2027. It should be noted that he has been at the King Power Stadium for the last nine years, having joined them from Belgian side Genk at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.

“Obviously, it’s unlikely that he will stay at Leicester in this window, and it became harder when they got relegated,” Yobo, who played Everton as a defender, said before adding: “He has all these interests from all over Europe, but I think he should stay in the Premier League.”

“Well, I’m a bit biased when I say Everton would be an ideal fit for him, because of my affiliations with the club. In the end, it would actually be a good move for him and the club. He comes in and makes an instant impact as a replacement for Gana Gueye, who is also uncertain on where he will be next. But also, there are all these interests from Manchester United and Crystal Palace and I think, his camp should seriously evaluate them. He still has so many years at the top, and the Premier League really suits his game to perfection,” the 44-year-old, who made 101 caps for Nigeria, added.

Since joining the King Power Stadium, from Genk in the winter transfer window of 2017, Ndidi has played 303 games for the 2021 FA Cup winners, scoring 18 goals and providing 21 assists, despite playing as a defensive midfielder and occasionally as a defender.
