Newcastle vs Everton match preview

Newcastle United head into the clash on the back of a 2-1 defeat to title-chasing Manchester City in their last league outing, which leaves them in 11 position on the standings with 36 points, nine points off an European spot.

The Magpies have won 10 of their 27 league matches, recording six draws and they have ended up on the losing side 11 times, but a win against the Toffees this time around would move them back into the top half of the standings.

Everton, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in a Monday night clash, but still remain in ninth position and in an unlikely race for an European spot at the end of the campaign.

The Toffees have won 10 games, lost 10 and drawn 7 of their league games so far leaving them with 37 points and could move into seventh with a win.

Newcastle vs Everton Head-to-Head record

(Last five meetings)

  • 29.11.2025 – Everton 1-4 Newcastle
  • 25.05.2025 – Newcastle 0-1 Everton

  • 02.04.2024 – Newcastle 1-1 Everton

Everton have narrowly edged the recent meetings between both sides, claiming victory on two occasions compared to Newcastle’s lone win in their last five matches, while two games have also ended in stalemate.

The Magpies are also winless in their last two home league games against the Toffees, including a 1-0 defeat the last time.

Newcastle have been very inconsistent in recent outings and have recorded victories in three of their last nine matches across all competitions.

The Magpies have also failed to keep a clean sheet during this run, while they have lost their last two home matches in the Premier League, against Brentford and Aston Villa.

Wissa ruled out as Desabre unveils DR Congo’s final AFCON 2025 squad

DR Congo forward Yoane Wissa has endured an injury-hit debut season at Newcastle and missed the league defeat against Manchester City.

However, he will be eyeing a return to action against Everton and will trouble their defence with his pace and linkup with teammates.

Best betting odds

Over 1.5 Goals – 1.24 (via betway)

Prediction

Both sides have struggled to keep clean sheets in recent outings which should leave this contrst wide open and with plenty of goals.
