Highly-rated Ghanaian youngster Aborga Wins has completed a move to Ukrainian Premier League side FC Polissya, Footy-Africa understands.
The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year after impressing scouts with his performances for Dansoman Wise XI and Ghana’s U-20 national team.
Sources close to the deal have told Footy-Africa that French side Le Havre, Spanish outfit Malaga and two clubs from Sweden were all interested in signing the teenager, but FC Polissya ultimately won the race for one of Ghana’s most exciting young talents.
Aborga has earned comparisons with Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey due to his composure in possession, intelligence on the ball and ability to control matches from midfield.
Partey’s Canada appeal was ‘an uphill battle from the start’, says immigration lawyer
Although naturally an attacking midfielder, the youngster is equally comfortable operating in a deeper role, where his passing range and tactical awareness have made him one of the standout performers in Ghana’s youth ranks.
His performances for Dansoman Wise XI caught the attention of several European clubs after consistently displaying maturity beyond his years.
Aborga averages more than 42 passes per game with an impressive passing accuracy of 83 percent, while also contributing over 1.5 key passes per 90 minutes. Defensively, he has shown a strong work ethic, averaging 7.5 ball recoveries per match, underlining his reputation as a complete midfielder capable of influencing both ends of the pitch.
His rapid development also earned him a place in Ghana’s U-20 setup, where he was called up to the Black Satellites camp ahead of the WAFU Zone B Championship.
The midfielder previously spent time in France, where he trained with Le Havre as European interest in his services continued to grow.
FC Polissya, who have established themselves among the leading clubs in the Ukrainian Premier League in recent seasons, view Aborga as a long-term investment and believe he has the potential to develop into a first-team player.
The move represents another significant step in the teenager’s promising career and continues the growing trend of young Ghanaian talents securing opportunities in Europe at an early stage.
Aborga will now begin preparations for his first season in Ukrainian football as he looks to fulfil the immense potential that has already seen many in Ghana compare him to Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey.
