Italian Serie A side Atalanta BC have registered concrete interest in highly rated Nigerian youth international Bidemi Amole, though no agreement has been reached at this stage, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
Earlier reports in sections of the Nigerian media on Tuesday suggested that Atalanta had already won the race to secure the winger’s signature from Real Sapphire Academy. However, those claims appear premature.
In an exclusive conversation with Footy-Africa, Real Sapphire’s Sporting Director, Godwin Austin, confirmed that the Italian club have made enquiries but stressed that negotiations remain open and no deal has been sealed:
“Nothing has been agreed with any team for his services. Although they have made enquiries but Atalanta is just one of the teams interested in the forward. He players has several offers on the table and we are looking at them carefully.”
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after young forwards in Nigeria following a string of impressive displays at youth level. Amole enhanced his growing reputation with the Nigeria U20 national team, featuring in seven matches and scoring once under head coach Aliyu Zubairu.
Sources close to the player indicate that interest is not limited to Italy, with multiple clubs across Europe monitoring his situation. Real Sapphire are understood to be weighing up the various proposals, prioritizing both the player’s development pathway and long-term prospects.
A decision on Amole’s next destination is expected in the coming weeks as discussions continue behind the scenes.
