Peter Ambrose has completed a loan move to Hungarian top-flight club Diósgyőri VTK (DVTK), pending international clearance, for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old Nigerian striker is no stranger to Hungarian football, having previously enjoyed a productive spell with Újpest FC. Ambrose’s return to the Nemzeti Bajnokság I is seen as an opportunity for him to regain momentum and secure more consistent first-team action.

Ambrose joined his current club, Aberdeen FC, in the summer of 2024, making 23 appearances and scoring two goals during his time at Pittodrie. However, with limited opportunities to start regularly, the decision was made to send him on loan to DVTK, where he can continue his development in a competitive environment.

Diósgyőri VTK, based in Miskolc, have been looking to strengthen their attacking options this season. Ambrose’s pace and versatility across the frontline are expected to add depth to their squad as they aim to improve their league standing.

Aberdeen’s management expressed their support for the move, highlighting the importance of regular game time at this stage of Ambrose’s career.

“Peter has shown great potential,” a club spokesperson said. “This loan will provide him valuable experience and help his progression.”

Fans and teammates alike wish Ambrose success during his stint in Hungary as he looks to make a strong impact and return ready to compete for a starting role upon his return.

The loan deal is subject to the necessary international clearance, with both clubs hopeful of a swift completion ahead of the transfer window deadline.
