Rangers have confirmed the signing of Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz, marking the first arrival of the January window under Danny Röhl.
The 22-year-old Danish midfielder of Nigerian descent arrives at Ibrox on an initial three-and-a-half-year deal, subject to international clearance and a work permit.
Chukwuani, who helped Sturm Graz to the Austrian Bundesliga title last season, brings Champions League experience to a Rangers side looking to bridge the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
“I’m super excited,” Chukwuani told the club website. “Rangers are a huge club and I can’t wait to hear the roar at Ibrox. It gives motivation every weekend to go and give 100 per cent.”
Pedigree of ‘youngest’ records
Chukwuani’s career has been defined by precocity. A product of the famed FC Nordsjælland academy, he made his professional debut at just 16 and remains the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer.
He is already a familiar face to one member of the Rangers dressing room, having played alongside Mohamed Diomande during their time in Denmark.

The Chukwuani Timeline:
- Age 16: Debuts for Nordsjælland, becoming the sixth youngest player in Danish top-flight history.
- Age 17: Becomes Nordsjælland’s youngest goalscorer.
- 2024: Helps Sturm Graz end Red Bull Salzburg’s dominance to lift the Austrian title.
- 2025: Captains Denmark Under-21s at the European Championships.
‘Specific qualities’
Rangers head coach Danny Röhl believes the midfielder’s blend of physical presence and technical ability is exactly what his squad lacks.
“He is a player who offers specific qualities that we believe will enhance our midfield,” said Röhl. “With experience of European competition and winning titles, he knows exactly what is required to thrive at a club like Rangers.”
