Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has attributed his recent good form to the confidence and game time he has been given, which he says has helped him rediscover his best football.
Speaking to Footy-Africa while on international duty with the Super Eagles, the former Villarreal winger said the confidence shown in him, along with the minutes he has been getting, has helped him settle quickly, and that he hopes to keep repaying that trust with his performances for Milan.
“I just have to keep doing my best for the team and repay the confidence the coach has in me by playing well and helping the team,” he said. “Playing ninety minutes means he has confidence in me, and I have to keep showing the coach reasons to keep playing me.”
“Every coach has his own style of play. Last season I wasn’t a regular, but this season has been different. The confidence is back, and I will hopefully keep showing what I can do.”

“With Milan, the target is always to win the championship, and this season is no different. That’s the main target for me and my teammates. We want to make the Milan fans happy,” he added.
Chukwueze moved to AC Milan in the 2024/25 season but struggled for regular impact, managing just three goals and two assists in 26 games.
The winger spent last season on loan at English side Fulham, where he fared relatively well, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances. However, the Fulham hierarchy were unwilling to meet Milan’s asking price to sign him on a permanent deal.
Chukwueze returned to Italy to rejoin his parent club, and has since been revitalised under new Milan coach Ruben Amorim. The 27-year-old has been one of the team’s standout performers, with the Portuguese coach making him one of his most trusted options.
So far this season, Chukwueze has played five games, starting four of them, and has provided two assists.
