FC Cincinnati’s newest recruit, Samuel Gidi, says his ambition is to help the club chase silverware as he begins a new chapter in Major League Soccer.

The Ghanaian midfielder, 22, completed a switch from Slovakian side MSK Žilina in the summer window, signing a three-year contract with an option for a fourth. The move marks the first time Gidi will play outside Europe, and he arrives with a reputation as a dynamic and adaptable presence in midfield.

“This is a big step for me,” Gidi said to the club media, after the deal was announced. “I’m proud to be here, and I want to give everything for Cincinnati. My focus is on helping the team reach its targets and hopefully lifting trophies along the way.”

Currently leading the Eastern Conference, Cincinnati are strengthening their squad with an eye on the 2025 MLS crown. General Manager Chris Albright described Gidi as the type of player who can elevate their ambitions.

“Samuel has already logged important minutes in Europe, which is impressive for someone his age,” Albright explained. “He brings energy, versatility, and a winning mentality. We’re confident he will add real value to our midfield.”

Before moving to the U.S., Gidi racked up 109 appearances for Žilina, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists. He is set to link up with his new teammates once his P-1 Visa is finalized.
