In the midst of his talks for a new contract at newly promoted Spanish La Liga side Real Oviedo, Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has emerged as a subject of interest for seven-time Europa League winners Sevilla, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The latter have subsequently submitted an initial €1 million bid to Real Oviedo, with the hope of wrapping up the signing. The bid comes a day after Sevilla made their first approach and contact with Real Oviedo for the versatile midfielder.

Meanwhile, the latest development also comes at a time when Real Oviedo is trying to tie the 27-year-old to a fresh three-year contract. His current deal at the latter is set to run down in the summer of 2026. A source at his agency, Football Promotions Limited, has confirmed Sevilla’s bid, and underlined that Real Oviedo is set to make a decision on whether to sell or proceed to hand the player a new contract.

“Kwasi (Sibo) is now locked in making decisions on whether to extend at Real Oviedo or join Sevilla, which is the bigger club. Real Oviedo is also in a similar dilemma, as Sevilla had tabled a €1 million offer. They risk losing the player on a free if he stays without signing a new contract. An internal meeting will be held before Thursday to determine their decision on Sibo’s future,” the source exclusively disclosed to Footy-Africa.

Sibo to extend contract with Spanish La Liga side Real Oviedo

Last season, the defensive midfielder played 39 matches across all competitions, having joined from SD Amorebieta in the Spanish lower divisions. He has previously featured for Watford, Betis Deportivo, UD Ibiza, KF Skenderbeu and FC Urartu.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, Sibo, whose transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €1 million, has yet to complete a cap for Ghana’s senior national team, The Black Stars.
