Kenyan international and forward Beja Nyamawi could be on his way out of Kenya Premier side Bandari FC, following contact from English League Two side Shrewsbury Town FC, Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.

This comes months after Nyamawi signed a new contract at Bandari, which is set to expire in June 2027. Meanwhile, this is also the second time that Shrewsbury Town formally express interest after failed attempts in the January transfer window.

A source close to the player has exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa that Shrewsbury have made their intentions known to both the club and the player, with intentions of paying up to €230,000 as compensation, with a five-year contract offer on the table.

“Shrewsbury wanted Beja (Nyamawi) in January, but he was advised to turn down the offer, as it was in the middle of the season, and he signed a new two-year contract at Bandari. They are now back with €230,000 as the initial bid for the striker. Beja wants the move, but it’s now out of his hands. Bandari are expected to ask for €300,000, but it’s open at the moment, all outcomes are possible,” the source exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa.

In the ended season at Bandari, Nyamawi scored 13 goals and registered five assists in 21 games across all competitions. In the 2023/24 campaign, he netted 12 goals in 18 appearances. Before joining Bandari, he had netted a decent 20 goals for SS Assad in the National Super League.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, the attacker has been through Kenya’s youth level setup, playing for the U20 and the U23 teams. With the senior team, he has made one senior team (Harambee Stars) appearance. He is also part of manager Benni McCarthy’s squad for August’s African Nations Championship (CHAN).
